Oak Leaf Support... who woulda thunk

Someone sent me a link to some incredible leaf art a few weeks ago... they had intricately carved images out of the leaves.... That got me thinking about leaves as canvas...so here is my first experiment. The trick is to treat the leaves with glycerin, so they stay supple. I'm thinking I'll need to coat the back of the leaf with some sort of acrylic medium, so it won't crumble... I love experimenting. :)

I like the way the thumbnails pop up, leading me down rabbit trails. And I like the leaf as canvas--which begs the question of whether you have ever painted on the tender inner layer of birchbark.

Thanks Gerry. I have many tender inner birchbark canvases awaiting inspiration. They are so precious to me that I want to have a really, really good idea before I paint or draw on them. It's silly really, since I'm forever picking it up when I walk the dog. I have quite a horde of it. Maybe it's because I want to do it justice...

Rabbit trails are a great way to describe those thumbnails... the whole internet, actually. If I don't set my timer... I can spend way too much time following my nose from one interesting thing to another. :)
