From my "year of painting" series... 4 years old...wow how time flies!!!
I'm still here in Traverse City Michigan, and will be for another few weeks. The painting is an older one, the view from the screen porch. My mom is on the inpatient rehabilitation floor at Munson Hospital after suffering a stroke from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Quite a surprise to us all, since she was golfing in Florida 7 weeks ago... As a heads up for all of you... Her only symptom was gout in her hand... so if you or your parents are near 70 or older and have gout, make sure they do a blood test to rule out AML...
It's almost surreal what your mother's been going through. I'll pray for her recovery. It's great that she has you to be there with her. "Platte Lake," by the way, looks so peaceful.

There are lots of things I'd change with this painting... but the view is pretty much the same. :) (The flag was half mast for President Reagan's death.)
Lauren, I hope your mom is improving, I'm sure she is thankful that you are able to be with her. (My parents are in their 70's also.)

ReplyDeleteThe view is from my mom's screen porch. :) She lives on Platte Lake, a mile from Sleeping Bear Dune national shoreline. It is a lovely spot... my favorite area on earth... winter and all. :)

Wow, that is a terrific view. I have been to the Sleeping Bear Dunes a few years ago on vacation, it is a really neat place to see! Wishing you and your family a peaceful weekend.

ReplyDeleteDebra... Pierce Stocking Drive is one of my favorite Park destinations... Did you get to do that? If you didn't, make sure to make time next visit. There are a ton of gorgeous views and overlooks.
