30 in 30 in 30- Day 30!!!

Hello Day 30! Challenge completed. (hope I don't pull something patting myself on the back)
This is definitely a fall bouquet... with made-up stuff in it.

Thanks to those of you that have followed along during the month. Your comments here, and "likes" on facebook helped me power through.

I learned that I have a better chance of keeping it fresh if I limit the times my brush goes on the paper. (Though I still managed to overwork some of them... it's my super power)
I'll continue to paint these limited stroke paintings, just not daily. :)

30 in 30 in 30- Day 29

Day 29.. no namby pamby watercolor here... Pink Power!  I like how the double dipped brush made a dark center on the far right bloom. I loaded the brush with red, then dipped it into dark violet. Two colors with one stroke... hehehe
One more day in the 30 paintings in 30 days in 30 strokes challenge. yee haw!

30 in 30 in 30- Day 28

Day 28- The pink backgrounds have been fun to work out. I don't often start with a soft pink ground. Sticking with the warm part of the color wheel seems to work quite well. This is a happy painting!

30 in 30 in 30- Day 27

Day 27 in the 30 paintings in 30 days in 30 strokes challenge.
Decided to try some neutral, muted color today. Looks like a flower bunch picked from the side of the road. (Sometimes those are the best sort of bouquet)

30 in 30 in 30 day 24

Day 24... pretty on pink. These have mostly started with a light colored background with a white space left in the middle. This pink gives everything a glow.

30 in 30 in 30 Day 23

Day 23... I'm a big fan of orange and turquoise together. (Hello Howard Johnson's) One week to go in the challenge!

30 in 30 in 30 Day 22

Day 22 in the 30 in 30 challenge. I thought I'd try a mixed bouquet.. I don't think it's quite as successful as the more unified bouquets. It was fun to try though.

30 in 30 in 30 Day 21

Day 21 in Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 challenge. Today's 30 stroke painting was finished up with 5 strokes of opaque gouache. (the lighter turquoise color) I've always liked opaque color against transparent color.

30 in 30 in 30 Day 19

Day 19... this is my newest favorite. I still love poppies, and this one seems especially fresh! That floppy brush has been my go to tool. It loads a lot of paint, and gives some unexpected results.

30 in 30 in 30- Day 18

Day 18... 30 days of September-30 strokes on the paintings- 30 paintings (hopefully!) I've always loved orange and gray together. Made up flowers, watercolor on watercolor paper.

30 in 30 in 30- Day 17

Day 17- And back to the blues...
Watercolor is so simple in process, not so simple in execution. I love not having to worry about getting paint on my clothes (that aren't painting clothes). It's been fun dabbling. Lots of years have passed since I've done watercolor...working out the rust.

30 in 30 in 30 day 16

Day 16 in the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge over at Leslie Saeta's blog. I'm doing my 30 paintings in 30 strokes (each that is...LOL) I think the center's of these poppies are quite fun... is it a spider or the center of the flower?

30 in 30 in 30- Day 14

Day 14.... Big shapes and happy colors. And an unfortunate stem heading right up the middle.

30 in 30 in 30- day 13

30 day challenge for the month of September- day 13.
Really enjoying blues and greens. That weird brush I found holds a lot of paint and makes great marks.

30 in 30 in 30 day 12

Day 12 in the 30 in 30 in 30 challenge... I love asters. These seem particularly perky. 7.5x11 watercolor

30 in 30 in 30 day 11

Day 11... I really am enjoying using this funky watercolor brush I found in my stash of brushes. It has a mind of it's own.

9/11... Memories of horror and sadness and the end of a certain kind of naivete. I remember wondering how ill a person must be to develop and execute such a horrible attack. Just unimaginable. I hope you are able to find some peace today. 💙

30 in 30 in 30 day 10

Day 10 in the 30 in 30 in 30 stroke challenge. I'm getting a bit smarter with experience. (sometimes it happens!) I've been working on 6 to 7 paintings at a time. This gives a chance for the layers of paint to dry, (sometimes overnight) and lets me step away and think. I use a post it to keep track of the paint strokes. :) I'm getting better at counting too.

30 in 30 in 30 day 9

Day 9 of the 30 in 30, and for me in 30 strokes. You can see some of the rest of the participants here.
A friend asked me why I decided to do my challenge in 30 strokes... I really thought it would be quicker. HA! Not true at all. There is a lot of thinking and planning that go into these simple 30 stroke paintings. And I've created a lot of duds too.
But I'm loving the challenge of it, and I'm pretty pleased with some of the results. They seem very fresh and uncluttered, which I appreciate.

30 in 30 in 30 day 8

Ok... true confession... this one might have 31 strokes... I lost track. I am a rebel and don't even follow my own rules. hehehe This one is in traditional transparent watercolor also which was fun to re-visit.

30 in 30 in 30 Day 7

Day 7 in the 30 in 30 challenge... I'm doing all of my challenge paintings in 30 strokes- So good for me. I'm finding that I can say a lot with 30 strokes of paint. This one makes me happy.
All of these challenge paintings are done on watercolor paper with watered down acrylic and various sizes of brushes.

30 in 30 in 30 day 6

30 in 30 in 30 strokes number 6... This one I did the background first - one stroke with a house-painting brush. Nice to have the background in first- all the other paintings I ran out of strokes to put in a background. Liking the oranges with the gray greens. I'm using watered down acrylic on watercolor paper for all of these so far. Advantage- once dry, under layer of color stays put with subsequent strokes.

30 in 30 in 30 Day 5

Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 challenge... this is my effort for day 5. My challenge paintings are all going to be created in 30 strokes.... which at first look seems like a really quick process... but I'm finding that not true.  I'm trying to be so much more mindful of each mark. I'm an impulsive gal, so this is a BIG effort for me. Slow down, be purposeful....and remember to count.

30 in 30 in 30 day 4

In 30 strokes... I decided to try an abstract doodle. I call splatter equals one stroke. Wish I had one more.... I'd connect those two triangle shapes in the upper center right.

30 in 30 in 30 day 3

Day 3 in Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30 painting challenge. I'm doing my paintings in 30 strokes.
I'm using watered fluid acrylic on watercolor paper. I'm finding it particularly challenging.

30 in 30 in 30 Day 2

Day 2 in Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30.  30 paintings in 30 days... and I'm doing my paintings in 30 strokes.
This is good for me. The hardest part so far is to be mindful and counting through the entire painting. I'd be embarrassed to tell you how many times I had to re-count to see where I was.

30 in 30 in 30 Day one

I'm taking part in Leslie Saeta's 30 in 30... 30 paintings in 30 days. I'm pushing it a bit more, I'm using 30 strokes to do my painting. I've been meaning to be more mindful of my brush strokes, and this seemed a perfect opportunity for some practice. This is watered down acrylic on watercolor paper. I hope I get better, at painting and at counting strokes! :D
